Reflecting on the Spring 2026 Season
June 25, 2026

As we close our spring season, we would like to thank you for being part of the expert discussions and immersive experiences that brought our community together in the past months.
Across 31 interdisciplinary events, we brought together creatives, changemakers, and innovators from North America, Europe, and beyond to explore the ideas and challenges shaping our societies today.
One of the highlights of the season was the launch of the Next Frontiers Symposium, inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s “New Frontier” speech. Celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States, and continuing into the fall, the symposium examines how culture, science, technology, and sustainable design influence our societies on both sides of the Atlantic. More than 200 participants from North America and Europe joined the opening keynote by renowned architect Sir David Chipperfield on architecture and adaptive reuse. The next day, we had a full program of conversations about planetary resilience, space governance, sustainable investment, and immersive "storyliving." During the symposium, one idea, formulated prominently by futurist Frederik Pferdt, kept emerging: the future is not something we wait for, it is something we actively shape together.
We also created opportunities for connection through shared cultural experiences. Highlights included our German Musik Mixer and performances at The New Colossus Festival, our participation as a co-host at SXSW in Austin with a panel discussion on One World? Rethinking Cosmopolitanism, and a "scentual" experience with Artificial Olfaction or Olfactory Intelligence, where attendees not only learned about the growing role of AI in fragrance making but were also invited to explore scent molecules that don't exist in nature and have never been smelled before.
Many of our events focused on international relations and the future of trans-Atlantic exchange. In Beyond Rules and Rivalries: The Trans-Atlantic Partnership and the Future of the International Order, Robin Quinville and Peter Sparding discussed how the United States and Europe can navigate an increasingly complex global landscape. We continued our collaboration with Robin Quinville throughout Recalibrating the Trans-Atlantic Partnership, a special event series held across Germany.
Books and literature played an important role in our arts and culture programs this spring season. In partnership with Deutsches Haus at NYU, we hosted two inspiring discussions between authors. The first was with Nelio Biedermann and Daniel Kehlmann on Lázár. We then concluded the season with Ghost Stories & Flower Bearers: Echoes of Love and Memory, featuring Rachel Eliza Griffiths and Siri Hustvedt in a conversation about memory, loss, and creativity.
As we continue preparing for the reopening of our home on Fifth Avenue, we are excited for what lies ahead and look forward to sharing more updates soon. In the meantime, we hope you have a rejuvenating summer and will join us for more events in the fall.
Thank you for being part of our 1014 community!
